What we collect, why, how long we keep it, and how to get rid of it.
Last updated 1 September 2026.
The short version
We collect as little as we can. We do not sell data. We do not run advertising networks on this site.
What we collect
| What | Why | Kept |
|---|---|---|
| Analytics: pages viewed, referrer, approximate country, device type | To see which pages are useful | 26 months |
| Your email, if you join the ARC programme or write to us | To send you the book and reply | Until you ask us to delete it |
| Account details, if you create a WORLDVIEW account | To operate the account | Until you close it |
| Server logs including IP address | Security and abuse prevention | 30 days |
What we do not collect
We do not ask for your address, your date of birth, or anything about your household circumstances. A preparedness publisher holding a list of who is vulnerable and where they live would be a bad idea, so we do not build one.
Lawful basis
Legitimate interests for analytics and security. Consent for marketing email, which you can withdraw at any time using the unsubscribe link in every message. Contract where you hold a WORLDVIEW account.
Processors
We use hosting, analytics, email delivery and authentication providers who process data on our behalf under contract. WORLDVIEW also calls third-party data sources for satellite, flight and seismic information; those calls carry no personal data about you.
Your rights
Access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability and objection. Write to hello@skavinger.com and we will respond within one month. You may also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
Cookies
The marketing pages set no cookies of their own. Analytics and, if you sign in, authentication set cookies necessary for those functions. See GDPR for the detail.
