Side 1: the numbers and the rules

Side 2: what you are owed, and the log
Print it double-sided and put it in the kitchen drawer
It is A4. The point of it is that it works when your phone is dead, the power is off and nobody can remember which number is which.
What is on it
- Every number: 105 for a power cut, 0800 111 999 for a gas smell, and when carbon monoxide means 999 rather than 111
- Blanks for your own water company, network operator and GP
- The six rules, including the two that get broken most: nobody investigates a sounding alarm, and nothing that burns comes indoors
- What a UK household is owed for a power cut, a water failure or a broadband outage, with the figures as checked in 2026
- A log grid for the two timestamps every compensation claim turns on
Corrections and updates
The energy figures are uprated every January and the water scheme changed in July 2025, so this card has a date on it and will be reissued. If you want the new one when it is published, or you have found something on it that is wrong, email hello@skavinger.com. That is also how you join the list for advance copies of new books.
